ChatGPT Voice arrived on the Mac and Windows desktop apps and can drive Codex and Work by voice: multi-step commands, spoken follow-ups when the agent needs input, and computer-use skills across websites and apps.
What changed
OpenAI added ChatGPT Voice to its desktop app on Plus, Pro, Business, Edu and Enterprise plans, built on its GPT-Live voice models. Spoken instructions can direct Codex and ChatGPT Work through multi-step tasks, respond when the agent needs a decision, and reach computer-use skills that operate websites and apps. It also works through Remote on iOS, and arrives as OpenAI retires the Atlas browser and folds its agentic capabilities into ChatGPT and Codex.
Why it matters
Voice removes the last bit of friction between an idea and an agent acting on your machine, which is wonderful for accessibility and flow and dangerous for precision. A spoken instruction is looser than a typed one, and code or file changes accepted by saying yes are still changes you own.
