Anthropic's Enterprise Compliance API now covers Claude Cowork and Claude Code, listed as stable in Anthropic's documentation. Admins get a session back as one transcript, local session content can be retrieved, and the platform documentation now also describes selective deletion of chats and files, though session records themselves stay read-only.
What changed
Anthropic's Compliance API covers Claude Cowork across the desktop app, web and mobile, and Claude Code in the CLI and desktop app, for Enterprise customers, and lists this session coverage as stable. Session endpoints return prompts, responses and tool activity together as one server-hosted transcript, through the Compliance Access Key teams already hold. Claude Code cloud sessions on the web, and Claude Code sessions using a Claude Console API key or run through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud or Microsoft Foundry, sit outside it (coverage of Claude Science and Claude in Chrome sessions is in beta), and local sessions under zero-data-retention are not captured, and in HIPAA-ready organisations only Cowork and Claude Code sessions are returned. Enterprise administrators can retrieve local session content, and the platform documentation now also describes selective deletion of chats and files, though session records themselves stay read-only, so the earlier beta gap where retrieved content could not be deleted no longer holds. Session transcripts themselves stay read-only through the API: chats, files and projects can be deleted on demand, but local and remote session records cannot be deleted through the Compliance API.
Why it matters
Plenty of people assumed that work done in a desktop app stayed on the desktop. On an Enterprise plan that is no longer safe to assume, and the distance between what staff believe and what an admin can pull is exactly where trust breaks. A transcript is also thinner evidence than its length suggests: it shows what was typed in one tool, not whether the file was current, what was agreed in the meeting afterwards, or what the person understood at the time.
